Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor Reconfiguration, Christchurch

Client: Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand

    Over the past four years, Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (Toitū Te Whenua) has progressively transferred the Crown-owned residential red zone land to Christchurch City Council (CCC).

    As part of the transfer of the land, TPG was engaged by Toitū Te Whenua to reconfigure approximately 602 hectares of residential red zone land within the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor.

    Services provided by TPG:

    • Creation of a GIS platform to capture the review of titles and manage the development of 29 scheme plans for the reconfiguration

    • Review of over 16,300 interests on approximately 5,500 titles to determine which interests could be extinguished

    • Consultation with CCC to develop scheme plans for the amalgamation of titles into new lots that aligned with CCC’s intended land uses

    • Assistance with procurement by Toitū Te Whenua of an expert survey panel

    • Initial review of draft survey plans and creation of a GIS platform to manage the progress of surveys, and

    • Legalisation of the reconfiguration and transfer to CCC –  the stopping of roads and amalgamation of titles within the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor.
