Sam Cottier

Sam is TPG’s Head of Commercial, based in our Wellington office.

Joining TPG in 2010, Sam has over 25 years’ experience in the property industry, both overseas and in New Zealand.

Starting his career as a lawyer in London, Sam worked as a commercial property solicitor in a large multi-national firm. Whilst in London, Sam worked for a number of publicly listed property clients, acting on their behalf in a variety of areas including acquisition, sale, and management of some of their key property assets.

Upon returning to New Zealand in 2002, Sam spent time at both Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) as a portfolio manager in the Crown Property Management department and as a land development manager on new energy projects at Meridian.

Sam played a pivotal role in managing TPG’s relationship with the Christchurch Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA). He also managed TPG’s involvement in the Crown’s Christchurch Central Development Unit commercial property acquisition programme. More recently, Sam has been involved in advisory roles with local authorities regarding strategic investments in property, together with large scale solar farm development projects for several energy companies.
