Melanie Whyte
Melanie is a Senior Legal Executive based at TPG’s Napier office.
Melanie has been with TPG since 2009 and has over 30 years’ experience in the land transfer and property area. Melanie spent 10 years working for Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). Following this, Melanie expanded her property knowledge through her time working for a local property valuation company.
Melanie has completed many large-scale projects. She works closely with the Ministry of Education’s easements team to ensure a smooth process for the granting of easements over school properties. She also works closely with the Ministry of Education’s Treaty team to ensure the Ministry’s property assets meet the Crown’s obligations under the various settlement Acts.
Melanie led the legalisation team for the Ōtākaro Avon River Project, to transfer ownership of approximately 5,500 titles from the Crown to Christchurch City Council.
Melanie led a full review of Palmerston North City Council’s reserves and assisted Council with a classifications project to ensure their reserves portfolio complies with current legislation. She has assisted Council’s to classify, re-classify and revoke reserves.
