Karen Williams

Principal Planner

Karen is a Principal Planner based at TPG's Wellington office. Karen has more than 10 years’ experience in resource management roles within local government, and has a high level of expertise in both consenting and policy planning work.

Karen’s experience includes processing resource consents, preparation of resource consents and resource consent submissions, District Plan policy, and stakeholder engagement and public consultation. Karen has also participated in Council hearings and acted as an expert witness on a number of occasions. She has a depth of experience across a variety of development projects, including comprehensive residential development and subdivisions, heritage, commercial, educational institutions, and infrastructure projects.
Karen’s experience positions her well to work effectively with technical advisors and expertly manage and navigate the various Council processes that can arise through the consent process.

She enjoys the client interface and working across a wide range of varying projects, with her experience in land use planning and related fields giving her a rounded appreciation of expectations for development from both the applicants’ and councils’ perspectives.

Karen provides a range of services and advice to requiring authority clients, including due diligence for site selection and alternative assessments, input into the acquisition and disposal process, notice of requirement processes, and obtaining regulatory approvals such as resource consents, outline plans and waivers.
